Primavera Sound

Tasked with designing a new visual identity for the Primavera Sound music festival the main challenge was that designing a logo for a music festival is taking an industry of sound and turning it into a visual medium. How does one convey the feelings and emotions spread through music while also avoiding the vast array of visual tropes?

The solution revolved around Russian artist Wassily Kandinsky, an artist with a condition called synysthesia which caused him to visualize sounds in shapes and colors. Through his extensive lifes work you can learn to conseptualize how a sound can look and feel through color, shape and texture.

Using Kandinsky’s descriptions of sound as a visual reference the final solution was created, an omage to a legendary artist bringing musical and contemporary art together to celebrate the unity brought by Primavera Sound.
